Who They are

Any accredited public or private schools with students in any grade K-12 may host interns and trainees regardless of the size, type and scope.

Host schools are required to:

  • 1Help develop and sign a Form DS-7002, Training/Internship Placement Plan(T/IPP), to verify that all placements are appropriate and consistent with the objectives of the trainees or interns as outlined in their program applications and as set forth in their T/IPPs;
  • 2Provide continuous on-site supervision and mentoring by experienced and knowledgeable staff, and have her or him conduct and submit to KoAm periodic evaluations using the forms provided by KoAm; and
  • 3Ensure that trainees obtain skills, knowledge, and competencies through structured and guided activities such as classroom training, seminars, rotation through several departments, on-the-job training, attendance at conferences and similar learning activities, as appropriate in specific circumstances.

Also, host schools are strongly recommended to provide an orientation to the participant upon arrival in the United States, which includes:

  • 4Information on opportunities to experience American life and culture while in the United States
