Prog Sponsors

KoAm works with two State Department designated program sponsors - CIPUSA and Cultural Vistas. Once a trainee is approved by a host school, one of these sponsors will issue the forms - DS-7002 and DS-2019 - that are necessary for the trainee to secure his or her J-1 visa to enter the US as an exchange visitor. 

With KoAm's cooperation, these program sponsors must collect the following information from all host schools:

  • 1Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • 2Verification of telephone number, address, brochures, website, etc.; and
  • 3Proof of worker’s compensation insurance policy or equivalent.

Also, these sponsors must ensure the following for trainees:

  • 1Participants in programs that exceed six months must be evaluated at mid-point and at the conclusion of the program;
  • 2For programs with durations of less than six months, the participant must be evaluated at the conclusion of the program. All evaluations must be received by the sponsoring organization prior to the end of the participant’s exchange program and must be signed by both the participant and his or her immediate supervisor;
  • 3Ensure that trainees are appropriately selected, oriented, supervised and evaluated;
  • 4Be available to trainees to assist as facilitators and information resources; and
  • 5Ensure that the training program is full-time (at least 32 hours a week).
